About Chris

Born and raised in the area, Chris began his public service on the Phenix City Council, where he also served as Mayor Pro Tempore. He brought that same hands-on, results-driven approach to the Alabama House of Representatives after winning a special election in 2016. He has been re-elected ever since and continues to fight for the families, businesses, and communities of Lee and Russell counties.

Before entering the legislature, Chris built a nearly 30-year career at TSYS, one of the nation’s leading payment-processing companies based just across the river in Columbus. That private-sector experience shaped his approach to government: efficient, practical, and focused on real results rather than politics as usual. He also continues his lifelong love of sports as a sideline reporter covering Troy University football for the Troy Sports Network.

In Montgomery, Chris has earned the respect of his colleagues and risen to key leadership roles. He currently chairs the House Financial Services Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Ways and Means General Fund Committee. He also sits on the Insurance and Lee County Legislation committees. His work has focused on protecting taxpayers, strengthening local governments, supporting economic growth, and delivering practical solutions for the rapidly growing communities he represents.

In 2025, the Alabama Association of Regional Councils named Chris Legislative Leader of the Year for his consistent advocacy and commitment to improving quality of life across the state — especially through partnerships that help both rural and growing areas thrive.

Chris ran for office because he wanted to help his hometown grow and thrive. That mission still drives him every day: listening to constituents, working across the aisle when it helps Alabama, and delivering steady, conservative leadership that puts Lee and Russell counties first.
